Angeles mayoral race: Bass narrows Caruso’s lead to approximately 2,000 votes
The lead of Rick Caruso, a businessman, over Karen Bass, Democrat Rep. has now fallen to just around 2,000 votes. This is because county officials are still sorting through hundreds of thousands mail-in ballots.
Caruso, a Republican-turned-Democrat, has so far captured 273,941 votes – about 50.25% – compared to Bass’s 271,246, according to the latest data from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
“This is a close race, as predicted. After the updated results, Caruso tweeted that there are hundreds and thousands of votes to be counted and that we will see different results every time.
He said, “I remain cautiously optimistic about these figures and look forward to seeing the next series of results over the coming weeks.”
CARUSO HAS SMALL LEAD OVER BAS IN LOS ANGELES MAYORAL ROLE
Bass stated Wednesday that he was happy with the results so far.
Thursday’s statement by the office stated that there are still nearly 900,000. These numbers are down from more than a billion in the previous statement. Los Angeles City is within the county.
Wednesday’s image shows what the county described as “significant volumes” of mail ballots that were returned by mail and received by USPS on Election Day. ”
The photo showed at most 100 boxes stuffed full of ballots, waiting to be opened.
