This is the last part of a series that I will be featuring modern folk music. Bob Dylan is the tutelary spirit. I will post the live version Dylan’s “Ring Them Bells”, the title track on Baez’s 1995 double-album. Baez is joined on this track by Mary Black from Ireland. This Dylan cover of a Sunday morning song is beautiful in its harmony. In Chronicles Volume 1 Dylan writes, “We cut this song [produced for Oh Mercy] exactly how I found it …”
