John Sexton updates five House races called yesterday for the GOP at Hot Air. The AP story contains quick takes on a few close California House race that are still in the balance. The GOP total was 217 at the end of the day, one shy of a majority. Democrats are at 205.
Two of the five GOP wins, Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert, were based on close races in Arizona congressional districts. Did the Dems cheat there? One was in New York (Brandon Williams), and two were in California, Ken Calvert and Michelle Steel.
Although the GOP is close to claiming a majority, it is not yet a done deal. Kevin McCarthy, the prospective Speaker, will have a small majority to work with. Let the infighting commence.
