One of the most absurd left-wing claims is that Europe’s energy crisis will accelerate the transition to solar and wind energy. The opposite is actually happening. If you are at risk of freezing to death you don’t want to go shopping for windmills producing hardly any electricity in less than half the time. The wealthy who have plenty of energy are able to afford “green” energy.
The German wind industry is crashing.
Wind energy is expected to play a crucial role in supplying Germany energy when other sources are cut off. However, this too is not going according to plan. ***
The German government wants to solve the country’s energy woes by increasing wind energy output by at least doubling it over the next decade, but orders for wind parks are not getting built and are “collapsing steeply”, according to Siemens Gamesa year-on.

Blackout News points out “incalculable record raw materials prices and supply chain issues” and lack of profitability. Nordex, a German company, is closing its plants and moving production to China.The combination of the huge Russian natural gas supply stop and an unplanned lack of wind energy expansion is further complicating the problems of the German government. While it struggles to keep the country fueled, it pushes for electrification and the closing of nuclear and coal power stations.
According to Blackout News, “Siemens Gamesa suffered a loss of nearly one billion euros and sales fell by four per cent” in the last fiscal year. “Vestas has already suffered a loss of just over one billion euros, as compared to a profit of 135 millions euros a year ago.”
Surprisingly, “it’s becoming more difficult to find financiers willing and able to invest in wind turbines.” This would not be true if wind was a viable option to keep Germany warm and its lights on.
We have Africa. The greenies tell us that solar and wind are more affordable than oil, gas, and nuclear. We know this is false. If it was, mandates and subsidies would not be necessary to force the use of inefficient and unreliable energy sources. Although Africans may live in countries that are less developed, they aren’t stupid.
If renewables are the most affordable form of energy, then why is Africa rushing for gas? Greens in developed countries scrambling to arrange climate finance to convince Africans to build renewables.
At the UN’s latest climate change summit, COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt), much was discussed about whether Africa should be allowed access to its gas reserves. These are estimated at more than 17.56 trillion cubic metres (620 trillion cubic feet) in 2021.
Al Gore, former vice president of the United States, used his speech at opening session to call for an end to fossil fuel investment worldwide, including in Africa. Macky Sall, president of Senegal, and chairperson for the African Union, said at the same event, however, that Africa needs to have space in the Earth’s shrinking carbon budget to develop its resources.
Of course he did! Nobody has the choice of choosing between intermittent and expensive energy.
These absurdities make it clear that claims that renewables are cheap are absurd. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any need for COP conferences or government-funded grid upgrades, renewable energy target certificate certificates, or other renewable energy initiatives.
Renewables would be the most affordable form of energy. There would be no discussion of exploiting untapped natural gas reserves. People all over the world would embrace renewable energy.
They don’t do that, despite not being stupid. Anyone can see that reliable, cheap energy is better than intermittent, expensive energy. Anyone can see that cheap, reliable energy is better than expensive, intermittent energy, or in other words, anyone can be a fool.
