ing Investigations // John Hinderaker
Scott pointed out earlier , that Merrick Garland had appointed Jack Smith as a special counsel to torture Donald Trump. Garland stated, “I assume with a straight-face:
It allows prosecutors and agents the ability to continue their work quickly and to make decisions that are indisputably based on the facts.
Indisputably! Right. Right. The Democrats have been plotting to indict Trump for some time now, and appointing special counsel is part their plan. They can pretend that impartial justice is simply taking its place, and it allows them to wash their hands from the investigation.
For the record Smith’s charges include both the January 6, 2021 events and the innocuous documents that Trump kept in his Mar-a-Lago basement.
Although this is clearly a political cynicism act, it is important to not underestimate the importance of this appointment. Smith will likely be able to bring criminal cases against Trump in Washington, D.C., so it is almost certain that Trump will be convicted by a hyperpartisan D.C. juror. Will Trump be the Republican nominee for President in 2024 or will he try to avoid a prison sentence Or both?
Meanwhile, Republicans have declared their intent to investigate and question the Biden family.
Republicans won control of the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday and stated that they will make it their top priority to investigate President Joe Biden’s business dealings and family when they take office next year.
Republicans have made it clear that they are not investigating Hunter Biden but Joe Biden. While the Democrats are prosecuting Donald Trump, Republicans will be investigating Joe Biden (but not impeaching). I’m not sure how this will end.
Although the ability of a special counselor to cause havoc is well-established, investigations by Congress tend to fizzle. One reason is that Congressmen are often not very good at it. Another reason is that Congressional committees lack sufficient investigatory powers and are reluctant to make use of the ones they do have. Instead of subpoenaing documents Congressional committees request them. The responding party, which is usually a government agency responds by producing the documents it considers beneficial to itself.
Or, the responding party ignores it completely, as Eric Holder did. Republicans who ignore Congressional committees like Steve Bannon could be sent to jail. Democrats who ignore Congressional Committees, such as Eric Holder, can get multi-million dollar jobs in the establishment.
So I expect the dueling investigations into Donald Trump and Joe Biden will be a mismatch. The Trump investigation will likely lead to an indictment or criminal conviction. Biden’s investigation will reveal what we already know. Its findings will be a deep surprise unless you read Power Line and InstaPundit and other conservative news sources. Most news outlets will repeat the Democrat line that Biden is corrupt. It is all about poor, drug-addled people who are now being reformed.-Hunter Biden. Did you also know that Joe’s son was killed in Iraq?
You can call me a pessimist but this is how I see it.
