time to start eating bugs! // (John Hinderaker)
One of the greatest follies of world history is the commitment by Western nations to “net zero” CO2 emission. Liberals are not only attacking the fossil fuel industries, although that would be a shame as fossil fuels are the ones that created the modern world. They are the reason that we don’t live in donkey carts. It gets worse: Agriculture is also in the crosshairs.
It was evident in Sri Lanka where the government had mandated organic farming. A mob stormed the Prime Minister’s home and forced him to flee the country. It has been seen in Canada and the Netherlands, where the government is trying to destroy the country’s highly successful agriculture industry. The Netherlands is second in food exports value to the United States. It won’t be long, however: the government is moving to close down farms.
The Dutch government plans to purchase and close down as many as 3,000 farms in environmentally sensitive areas, in order to comply with EU environmental regulations. ***
The government will make a “compulsory buy” of large nitrogen emitters as part a voluntary, one time offer, announced Christianne van der Wal
The Netherlands has a “Nitrogen minister” which is a sign how far liberals have fallen. Oh, and by the way, I will venture a wild guess that “Nitrogen Minister”, is not a scientist or a chemist.
Will Hild, Executive Director of Consumers Research, stated to the Daily Caller that “The Netherland’s war against farmers to pursue its ESG agenda serves to be a stark warning.” Americans should be wary of Wall Street giants like BlackRock, which are pushing dangerous targets for ‘net zero’ carbon emission here in the US. It is hard to overstate the recklessness in undermining farmers during this greatest global food crisis since decades.
The international war against agriculture, which focuses mainly on synthetic fertilizers and animal husbandry, is driving up food prices worldwide. If the war against agriculture continues, people in wealthy countries will become starving if food prices rise.
Liberals believe there is an alternative: all people should eat insects rather than meat. Is that crazy? It is. However, this is their endgame. Imagine how much CO2 we could save if we didn’t use millions of acres to grow corn for cows, sheep, and other animals to eat. The emissions that animals themselves cause are also important.
The liberals plan to eat bugs, which I can only reply: You go first.
But that’s not how liberals behave. They will have their own stores, which can only be opened to those with high social credit scores. They will eat meat while you eat crickets.
A rare voice of reason asks: Is there any reason to believe that destroying the industries that made modern life possible will save the planet from global warming? The answer is no. Except for the fact that global warming “science” is so flawed that it is a cult and not a science, fossil fuels-the most reliable energy source on Earth-will continue being produced and used by countries who refuse to drink the environmentalists’ Kool-Aid.
UAE plans $150 billion spending spree to boost oil output to 5MM barrels by 2027.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (also known as Adnoc) will invest $150 billion over the five years to 2027, it announced Monday. This is an increase from the $127 billion spending plan for five years, which was announced last year.
The spending spree will aim to increase crude oil output to 5 million barrels per day by 2027. This is earlier than the 2030 target. It also comes at a moment when Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s largest oil company, plans to expand its output by 12 millions by 2027.
It would be great if the $150 billion was being invested in the U.S. for American oil and natural gas production, but that won’t happen under the brain-dead Biden government.
The “green” hysteria is largely based on talk and wasteful money. The truth is that Western countries do not rely on solar and wind energy to power their economy. It is inefficient, unreliable and expensive. The Left expects this to change. The international balance of power will shift quickly if it does. The standards of living in once-rich countries such as the U.S., most of Western Europe, and other parts of the world will rapidly fall, while countries like Russia and China, which continue to extract far more reliable, efficient, and affordable fossil fuels, will become dominant economically. This seems like a terrible outcome, but Western liberals are working hard to make it happen.
