Evander Kane, Edmonton Oilers forward, was struck by lightning in last night’s matchup against Tampa Bay Lightning.
Kane was trying to clear the puck from his defensive zone during the second period when he and Lightning forward Philippe Myers collided. Kane was sent to the ice. Kane’s left arm was still on the floor when Lightning forward Pat Maroon jumped into the play to join the play. However, Maroon’s skate ran across Kane’s exposed wrist. The Oilers star ran to the bench in pain as blood began to flow from the wound.

Maroon looked at the play and he – along with all of Tampa Bay’s benches – immediately alerted Edmonton to Kane’s arrival.
Maroon stated, “When you see so much blood, you know something is wrong.” “Obviously, the boys are very worried about him, and we’re all thinking of Evander. He’s doing well, I hope so. But you can’t see this much blood without something serious.
Kane was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Ken Holland, Oilers general manager, said that Kane would be stabilized and then undergo surgery on his wrist. He also assured him that he would be fine long-term.

The Oilers won the game 3-2 for their friend, with Edmonton captain Connor McDavid scoring a goal and an assist on five shots.
