Two days before the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), began in Egypt, a climate expert exposed an extreme report that exaggerated the dangers of climate changes.
“The climate crisis is destroying us. #COP27 must make a down payment on climate solutions that are proportional to the problem,” UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres tweeted Oct. 25, encouraging a doom-peddling report from The Lancet on climate change.
Dr. Bjorn Lombborg, a Hoover Institution visiting climate expert, ripped apart The Lancet’s “deliberately misleading” climate report in a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed.

Lomborg criticized The Lancet’s claim that “health [was] at a mercy of fossil fuels” during an absurd Oct. 25 research. He wrote that it was difficult not to see the Lancet study’s failure to adjust this number as a deliberate act deception. Lomborg explained that The Lancet cherry picked data by focusing only on heat deaths. Lomborg said it was an “amateur statistical fallacy”.
Worst of all is that the report fails to see the larger picture.
“Around the globe, far more people die from cold than heat each year.” This is according to Lomborg’s cited report by The Lancet. [Emphasis added].
Lomborg summarized that “the journal claims that rising temperatures have caused the deaths of people, but ignores the fact that they have saved far more people.”
Even though temperatures are rising, as Bill Gates, John Kerry and other eco-doomers often claim, that’s actually good news. “Cold deaths are decreasing with increasing temperatures.”
Lomborg followed The Lancet to its logical conclusion: “Based upon today’s population, the current temperatures cause approximately 17,000 more heat deaths among older people but also result in over half a million fewer deaths from cold.” [Emphasis on added].
The Lancet and other climate propagandists masquerading as scientific journals are not only discrediting science as an institution. Lomborg wrote that “this dishonesty leads us to worse policy outcomes” and criticized activists who “push for extreme, expensive climate policies that threaten economic development.”
Lomborg said that human flourishing is only possible through economic growth and not government intervention. “Temperatures rose in the 20th century, but the U.S. saw a decline in heat deaths, largely due to air-conditioning.”
He said, “Policies that are focused on lifting people out poverty and providing affordable, reliable energy sources would allow the rest to live more comfortable lives and reduce heat deaths.” They would also help to prevent the even greater threat of cold death.
