Companies Offer to Left-Wing Activists. Announcement of Twitter Ad Pause

Many companies have pulled their ads from Twitter following Elon Musk’s announcement that the platform would not unfairly censor conservatives.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Audi, General Motors and General Mills paused advertising on the platform following Musk’s announcement of significant changes to the company’s content moderation standards.

General Motors stated to CNN that it is monitoring Twitter’s “new direction” under Musk, and may re-evaluate its decision not to remove ads from the platform.

General Mills spokesperson Kelsey Roemhildt stated that they had halted advertising on Twitter. She also spoke out for CNN. “As always we will continue to monitor and evaluate this new direction in our marketing spend.

The ad suspension campaign appears to be being led by several leftist advocacy groups. One of them is Accountable Tech.

Accountable Tech’s website states that the group “is working towards long-term structural reforms to address the existential threat social networking companies pose to our information ecosystem, democracy, and democracy.”

Accountable Tech and other progressive groups demanded in an “open letter” that corporations stop advertising on Twitter.

“Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter was accompanied by his promise to advertisers like yourself that the social network would not become a ‘free for all hellscape’ and would remain warm and welcoming to all,” the letter states.

The letter asks companies to stop all advertising on Twitter worldwide if Musk continues to threaten brand safety and community standards, including the elimination of content moderation.

Musk tweeted that Twitter would not censor accurate information about any topic over the weekend. He was responding to a post by Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, about Twitter’s election-censorship policies.

NewsBusters reported that the policy update was part of Musk’s self-described commitment towards free speech.

He tweeted in March, “Given Twitter serves as de facto the public square, failing to adhere free speech principles fundamentally undermines Democracy.”

Later, he added that “[f]ree Speech is Essential to a Functioning Democracy.”

Conservatives are being attacked. Your representatives should be contacted to demand that Big Tech is held accountable to the First Amendment, while also providing transparency, clarity and equality on “hate speech” for conservatives.
