CRACKPOT Joy Reid accuses the GOP of rigging polls to create a narrative of a red wave

Joy Reid, MSNBC’s Joy Reid, went all-out conspiracy kook on Monday night during her show The ReidOut. She was wearing her tin foil cap so tightly that it was cutting off her circulation.

Reid commented on recent media coverage about polls trending in the GOP direction. He said that “if the headlines are true, MAGA fascism would be the ascendant.”

Reid claims it’s all a hoax because “if we get past the headlines and dig deeper, you will uncover an insidious campaign by Republican-backed survey firms to flood the area and tip the balance in their favor.”

Reid claimed that partisan pollsters are not trustworthy because they spin for their side. However, she quoted Simon Rosenberg, a Democrat pollster, who she described as “sounding alarm” and said that “of the roughly 40 polls taken by key battleground states”, over half are “from Republican groups or firms.”

Reid cited The New York Times, a left-wing newspaper, as evidence of her conspiracy theory. Its polls showed that Democrats were either leading or tied with their opponent.

Reid continued to quote from The Times and claimed that “most polling in the last few weeks has been coming from partisan outfits (usually Republican or auto dial firms). These polls are cheap enough that they flood the zone.

She ended her delusional, conspiratorial rant with falsely claiming that “Real Clear Politics has become more openly pro Trump” because “their polling averages appeared skewed in Trump’s favor.”

NewsBusters will be live on election night and the days following to see Reid’s reaction to being proven wrong.

JOY REID – We are just over a week from our midterm elections here in the United States. If you believe the headlines, MAGA fascism seems to be on the rise. If you look beyond the headlines and dig deeper, you will discover an insidious campaign by Republican-backed polling companies to flood the zone with their candidates and tip the balance of the polling averages in their favor. To create the impression that Republicans are on the rise and that a red tide is imminent.

Simon Rosenberg, a Democratic pollster, has been warning about this wave of polling for weeks. It is notable that more than half of the 40 polls taken in key battleground state are from Republican groups or firms. The New York Times published four new polls over the weekend in key battleground states, showing Democrats either leading or tied with their opponent.

Their polls are telling a different story. According to Nate Kohn, the New York Times, the majority of polling in the last few weeks has been coming from partisan outfits. These include auto dial firms or Republican parties. These polls are cheap enough that they flood the zone.

It shouldn’t be surprising that Real Clear Politics, one of those polling aggregators has become more pro-Trump. The New York Times reported in 2020 that Real Clear Politics had taken a rightwardly aggressively pro-Trump turn. It also noted that their polling averages appeared to favor Trump.
