Rep. Liz Cheney, and other Democrats who lost, Thursday’s MSNBC Reports provided good news: You can still get a job in the Biden Administration or run for President.
Jose Diaz-Balart, co-host, followed a video montage with defeated Democrats and asked Elise Jordan, political analyst, “So, it was kind of difficult to put them all into one bucket but I’m just curious, so Elise, what happens some of the candidates we’ve been watching that have had such a national voice for such a long time and now are facing defeat?”
Jordan believed that Stacey Abrams could be promoted despite her two losses.
She was less optimistic about Beto O’Rourke. He’s another two-time loser. “I really wonder because he’s now had two very big losses statewide Texas and I don’t really see where in Texas he runs again where the apparatus would support him for another try.”
Chris Jansing presented Maria Teresa Kumar, President and CEO of Votolatino, and other Democrats who had lost to defeat with another set names. So, you got Val Demings right, you’ve got Liz Cheney, Cheri Beasley, Tim Ryan. A top Democrat suggested that I watch out for Tim Ryan in the future, to run for president. I don’t know. Are you sure they aren’t? Are they all the right candidates in the wrong state?
It is hard to imagine Ryan’s second presidential campaign being more successful than the one before, but Kumar was imagining other possibilities. “What if we pair Liz Cheney with Stacey Abrams, and start talking about universal voter registration and election reform?” I can see them doing a sort of czar thing with an administration that is completely bipartisan. It would be very exciting.
It wouldn’t. Kumar was however unable to shake the fascination that “there are commissions that the president could create and there is certainly an appetite for this movement.”
Kumar acknowledged that “there’s not a single American who hasn’t experienced an election– Election Day” and stated, “This is flawed.” There must be a better way.
Stacey Abrams and Liz Cheney are the best to fix that was left unsaid. That was also why Cheney’s involvement would have been “completely bipartisan” given the GOP’s standing.
Kumar was more optimistic for O’Rourke that Jordan. “But, I think Beto O’Rourke will be a strong contender when it comes to being surrogate for other candidates and raising a lot money.”
Kumar encouraged Ryan to learn from his campaign and mainly not challenge Nancy Pelosi for speakership. If MSNBC is allowed to continue their campaign, Americans will not be satisfied with the Abrams O’Rourke era.

KUMAR: Yes, it does. There are commissions that the president could create and there is certainly an appetite for this movement. There isn’t one American who hasn’t experienced an election– Election Day, and thought, “This is flawed.” There must be a better way. That’s one.
But, I believe that Beto O’Rourke will be a strong candidate for being a surrogate for other candidates and for raising lots of money. It would encourage Tim Ryan’s supporters to say, “What did you do well, and what did you make wrong?”
One thing that hurt him was that he went on the other side of Pelosi while he was trying to take her seat. I believe that’s something one learns from the establishment.
