Liberal media: Be careful what you wish to get.
Morning Joe was in a good mood today, glorifying in the absence of a midterm Red Wave. Joe Scarborough was quick to mock Donald Trump.
Scarborough exclaimed, “hey Trump!” Hey Donald Trump! Meet Boris Johnson”, a reference to the former British Prime minister who was recently pushed from office. He added: “Massive victory down below. Right? Unfortunately, Donald Trump has lost the rest of America.”
Willie Geist is usually the most fair-minded of the Morning Joe crew. It was therefore not surprising that he wrote the most unkind cut of all. Willie spoke out about Ron DeSantis’s astonishing victory in the Florida governor’s race. He won by almost 20 point and took the traditional Dem stronghold of Miami-Dade.
“It would appear that this morning, Ron DeSantis’s party is not Donald Trump’s,”
Scarborough quickly endorsed Willie’s view, then added a horrible metaphor of his own: Trump touches everything politically.
If Scarborough and his colleagues are correct, Ron DeSantis could replace Donald Trump as the Republican party’s dominant force. In two years, Election Night 2024 will be a different song for the liberal media.
Morning Joe is gloating about the Democrats’ midterm performance, and claiming that Ron DeSantis’s GOP party is now sponsored by Liberty Mutual and Roman.

MICHAELSTEELE: This was not even a good ripple. This is what I mean.
SCARBOROUGH – Come on. There isn’t a red wave!

SCARBOROUGH – Meet Boris Johnson [audience laughter, applause]. I mean, there was — there was, actually — there was a coronation last evening, probably as grand and as King Charles III’s coronation in the spring.
It was Ron DeSantis from Florida. It was a huge victory. Right? Unfortunately, Donald Trump lost the rest. While I don’t think this is the end for Donald Trump, there are many Republicans who woke up this morning and said, “Wait a minute!” Ron DeSantis is winning Miami-Dade by 20 percentage points. This is the largest win in the state’s history. Donald Trump is tweeting and cheering for Republicans. I don’t believe Donald won last night.
WILLIE GEIST (No. It was a terrible night for him. It wasn’t a red wave. It was not a red wave. Last night Lindsey Graham appeared on NBC saying, “Whew!” This didn’t go the way we expected it to. This was not a red tide. That’s Lindsey Graham stating that. That’s just one thing.
People were concerned about the governors races. New York — Kathy Hochul stayed here. Wisconsin — [applause], Michigan. They lost where there were election deniers. Election denialism was on last night’s ballot and lost overwhelmingly. Every time.
To your point: Ron DeSantis won Florida by almost 20 points. This is remaking the map. Remaking the Obama coalition. Winning, flipping by 20 point from a couple of years ago, Latino voters.
It would seem that this morning Ron Desantis is the party, and not Donald Trump.
SCARBOROUGH: Yeah. It’s not Donald Trump. It’s not Trump’s.
STEELE: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: He lost in ’17. Local races
MIKA: The negative Midas touch.
SCARBOROUGH: He lost in ’18. He lost the governorships of the South in 19. He lost in ’20. He lost in ’20.
