Joy Reid, MSNBC’s MSNBC correspondent, expressed disappointment at the Democrat Party’s inaction in North Carolina after Ted Budd defeated Cheri Beasley. She also said that she didn’t think they would invest more in the race.
Reid blasted Reid for saying that “we discussed this the other day when I was talking about the Obama effect.” Democrats will have to ask themselves, “Should we have sent Obama there tonight?”
“This is such an narrow margin. This is not a competitive state. Barack Obama won it in 2008 by 14,000 votes. He lost it by just 90,000 votes. Reid said that the governor is a Democrat.
She lashed out at Democrat Party’s failure to prioritize election resources and write off what she calls winnable races.
Democrats need to rethink what they consider winnable states. It’s easy to get so fixated on Florida. North Carolina is where they should be investing. They spent $90 million on the ground. This was a state that didn’t get the attention or the investment. Cheri Beasley was, in my opinion, out of money by the end.
“The truth is that if you think about the ground game having worked for Democrats, and now spending money on ground has really done miracles for them in all these states, where they had the sort of narrative that they were going to get washed out by some red wave which I think was bs honestly,” Reid said.
She expressed her sadness again, claiming that “in this condition, I believe this was a winnable condition.” This one is very sad.

JOY REID – We discussed this when we spoke about the Obama effect. Democrats will have to ask themselves, “Should we have sent Obama there tonight?” This is a narrow margin. This is despite the fact that it was not competitive. In 2008, Barack Obama won this state by 14,000 votes. He lost it by just 90,000 votes. The governor is a Democrat.
The reality is that Democrats have been able to win the ground game and spending on ground in all these states has done wonders for them. This was in spite of the narrative that they would be swept away in a red wave. This was a winnable state in this state. This one is very sad.
