Elon Musk announced changes in Twitter’s censorship rules.
Musk responded to a question from Tom Fitton on Saturday about Twitter’s election-censorship policies.
He tweeted, “Twitter will never censor accurate information regarding anything.”
This declaration comes on the heels of a promise he made last week that he would “look into” biased censorship during 2022’s midterm elections season.
In response to Fitton’s tweet, he tweeted “I will investigate this.” “Twitter should be fair and not favor one side,” he tweeted.
Musk has been looking for a more “even-handed Twitter” for a while.
After criticizing the company’s unfairly censoring content he initially stated that he wanted Twitter to be bought to promote free speech online.
He tweeted earlier in the year, “Given Twitter serves as de facto the public square, failing to adhere free speech principles fundamentally undermines Democracy.”
He publicly reiterated his support for free speech and said that “[f]ree speech was essential to a functioning democracy.”
