Musk: “We have to be tolerant of views we don’t agree with.”

In a meeting with advertisers on Wednesday, Elon Musk reiterated his commitment to free speech.

According to The Washington Post, Musk spoke out about his plans for Twitter to attract advertisers to the platform. Over 100,000 people viewed the public broadcast online.

“Musk answered questions from two of his executives over the course of an hour and a representative from the advertising industry during a Twitter Spaces conference, which was broadcast live on Twitter at noon. More than 100,000 people watched the live broadcast.”

Musk suggested that, while the platform’s content moderation standards are not changing yet, Musk said that supporting free speech does not mean supporting so-called hate speech.

According to The Post, he stated that “We must be tolerant of views that we don’t like, but those views shouldn’t be amplified.”

He also stated that he is excited for the company’s future.

He said, “If nothing else, I am a technologist. I can make technology move fast.” “If we don’t try bold moves, how can we make great improvements?”

He said that he ultimately takes responsibility for any “bold moves” that fail.

He said, “At the end-of-the day I am Chief Twit here, and so the responsibility lies mine.” “If I make decisions that people don’t like, advertisers will leave the program, users will leave, and we will fail,” he said.

NewsBusters reported Tuesday that major companies gave in to liberal tech groups’ demands and pulled their ads off the platform. This was after Musk said it would no longer unfairlycensor conservatives.

Accountable Tech, a liberal tech group, and other progressive organizations demanded that corporations remove their advertisements from Twitter in an “open letter”.

“Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter was accompanied by his promise to advertisers like yourself that the social network would not become a ‘free for all hellscape’ and would remain warm and welcoming to all,” the letter states.

Audi, General Motors and General Mills responded to the letter by removing their advertising from the platform.

General Mills spokesperson Kelsey Roemhildt stated that they had halted advertising on Twitter. She also spoke out for CNN. “As always we will continue to monitor and evaluate this new direction in our marketing spend.”

Conservatives are being attacked. Your representatives should be contacted to demand that Big Tech is held accountable to the First Amendment, while also providing transparency, clarity and equality on “hate speech” for conservatives.
