NewsBusters Podcast: Surprisingly, a Wave-Free Election Night

According to historical averages, there was a “red wave” in the 2022 midterms. The media’s Election Night routine was a little blander when there wasn’t an obvious tilt towards Republicans but instead a tilt towards all incumbents. There were no “whitelash” cries or talk of two-year-old temper tantrums. CNN sounded for a few minutes like “straight-news” for a while.

The red wave was left to Florida where Ron DeSantis, Marco Rubio, and others cruised to victory within the first hour of returns. There were no unexpected “throw the bums away” results. The Senate and House control remained in doubt all night.

Curtis Houck, NewsBusters Managing Editor, and Jorge Bonilla, MRC Latino Executive director, join the show to discuss results in Florida, Pennsylvania and other races. What will happen to Georgia with another runoff? Will Trump endanger Herschel Walker? Will liberal networks continue to search for anonymous women who claim Walker paid for an abortifaction? It would shock them to actually spend time investigating the housing issues at Raphael Warnock’s church, as conservative sites like Washington Free Beacon did.
