Rampant Racism – Sunny Calls White Women “Roaches” for Voting GOP

NewsBusters has been documenting the racism of Sunny Hostin (co-host of ABC’s The View) for a while now. We were shocked when she suggested that white women could be called “roaches” if their vote was for Republican. Hostin, a wealthy elitist, suggested that they were voting against their self-interest and wanted to live in The Handmaid’s Tale.

Hostin mentioned “the abortion issue” and recalled reading “a poll just last week that white Republican suburban women now want to vote Republican.”

This received immediate applause from the radical liberal audience. Alyssa Farah Griffin (a self-proclaimed conservative cohost) reacted by shouting that “They’re voting against themselves! Do they want it to go in Gilead? Do they want to be in The Handmaid’s Tale?

The conversation turned into a shouting match between them:

FARAH GRAFIN: Do you love democracy? Simply saying it is insulting to the voter. People make decisions about what is best for their families. The idea that everyone should have the right to vote.

HOSTIN: The fact that women vote against their own health care is a fact.

FARAH GRAFIN: Not that long ago, you had a different opinion on abortion.

HOSTIN: That is my view.

[Crosstalk]

HOSTIN: That is my view.

FARAH GRIFFIN – Right, but why isn’t another woman able to have a completely different view?

HOSTIN: I am surprised that white Republican suburban women vote against their own healthcare.

Sara Haines, a Liberal co-host, stepped in to explain why Hostin was not on the right track. She pointed out that “everyone has priority lists” when they vote and that, despite being pro-abortion, “women’s rights is second” in her mind this cycle, as stopping “[election] deniers [is]] more important.”

Joy Behar, Joy’s co-host, tossed in her two cents and said: “You’re not voting to vote for Republicans. You are voting for a cult. Keep that in mind. It’s a cult. It’s not Republicans anymore.”

Hostin couldn’t even get that statistic right. It wasn’t just suburban white Republican women who were affected. “The GOP has seen a shift of favor among many voter groups, including Latino voters, women, and especially white suburban women. This group, which pollsters say makes up 20% of the electorate has shifted 26 percentage point away from Democrats since August’s Journal poll and now favors Republicans by 15 percentage points,” Wall Street Journal reports.

The cast attacked Americans who prioritized ending the cycle of inflation earlier in the segment. Whoopi Goldberg, co-host, said that she is “so confused” about how the GOP messages regarding crime and inflation are “resonating with voters. She claimed that both were a “lie” before huffing: “I guess lying the new in.”

Hostin and Behar teamed up to attack voters’ intelligence. Behar moaned, “Inflation fluctuates democracy doesn’t… I’m just saying that I feel like people don’t understand the seriousness of this,” Behar said. Hostin said that these people should be “educated” about inflation. Without citing any evidence, Hostin declared that inflation is a global problem and that corporate greed is the domestic problem.

Behar and Goldberg said that the problem was that media weren’t doing enough to get the Democratic Party message out. Goldberg groaned that “everytime something goes wrong we hear something.” We hear enough about the bashing, but we don’t hear what’s happening when it’s right. It is what it is.

Farah Griffin admitted that she regretted telling the truth, but acknowledged the coming red tide. She was booed and jeered by Behar. She argued, “No, they’re voting for a referendum about the party in power, which are Democrats that control all.” But Goldberg was not having it. She said, “That can’t possibly be what it is, since the party in power has been doing anything!”

Sunny’s unpunished racism was possible thanks to the lucrative sponsorships of Leaf Filter, GSK. Their contact information can be linked.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG – I mean, the big messages from GOP candidates are to blame Biden for inflation and to say that Democrats are soft on crime. I mean – and and -and – It – Who knows what’s resonated now? I am so confused by all the things I see.

JOY BEHAR – Biden is trying, in essence, to appeal to the intelligence and sensibilities of the American voter. He is saying that there are problems. We have inflation.

If you want to live under a dictatorship, then go to Hungary, where there’s 20 percent inflation. They had Viktor Orban, the man who spoke at CPAC once, and Tucker Carter – Carlson, whatever his name, was there. He’s a fan. This is what we can expect with all these Republicans in power.

He seems to be trying to emphasize that point. This – I have always said that inflation fluctuates democracy doesn’t. We need to be able to recognize that. I don’t intend to give a speech, I’m just expressing my frustration that people aren’t understanding the seriousness of what’s going on.

SUNNY HOSTIN – I agree with you. Inflation – What people do – I don’t think people are learning enough about it. Inflation is a global problem. Corporate greed is the domestic problem. Corporations made more money during the pandemic and afterwards.

BEHAR: Why don’t the media address this?

HOSTIN: They increased their prices to make more profit.

BEHAR: It’s hard to hear.

HOSTIN: It’s hard to hear.

GOLDBERG: Because you know who said it, that’s what it becomes.

HOSTIN: Instead of Republicans having a clear agenda and a message about how they will help the country, they have an anti-Biden message and fear mongering. They claim it’s inflation, crime, and immigration.

The problem of immigration has been a problem for decades. Our democracy has had a crime problem for decades. Inflation fluctuates, as you pointed out. What I find most sad about this is that only one party attempted to subvert democracy. Only one party did this. That’s what we need to keep our eyes and focus on.

ALYSSA FARAH GRAFIN: I thought Biden’s speech was very important. There was not a word that I disagreed with. However, I agree with David Axelrod who was senior advisor to President Obama that it was the wrong closing message. If Democrats want to win the midterms, the clip of Obama is what they should have been saying for six months.

Like, I regret to say – I am sorry – I know that this isn’t the audience that wants it to hear it. I think there’s going be a red wave, and I think it’s because Democrats said things like –

BEHAR: Boo!

[Audience booing]

FARAH GRAFFIN: It’s okay. Democrats claimed that inflation is a global phenomenon. But, that doesn’t help me eat. Or blaming the war in Ukraine for high gas prices. This doesn’t help me fill up my tank. Voting is now a thing of the past.

HOSTIN (interrupting). So, we should lie to people?

FARAH GRAFFIN: They’re voting on a referendum about the party in power, which are the Democrats who control everything.

GOLDBERG: This can’t be true, because the party at power is the only one that has done anything!

FARAH GRAFIN: They don’t feel it.

GOLDBERG : I’ll tell ya what. I believe people are smarter than we give them credit for. I believe people know what inflation is and why it’s happening. I believe what we’ve been hearing from one party is a message. They don’t have it.

HOSTIN: A schedule.

GOLDBERG — Another agenda. We’re hearing that. I’m sure you’ll do the same for me. Voting — I voted so I know what I did. But you will do what is right. You will decide who is working for you.

You don’t hear much on — in the media about Democratic message, and I used to wonder why. We hear something every time something goes wrong. We hear enough about the bashing, but we don’t hear what’s happening when it’s right. It is what it is.

You all will decide what it is, and we’ll find out more about it next week. We’ll all see how happy or sad we are. We’ll then have to take a closer look at ourselves, as we will have done it to ourselves. It doesn’t matter what it is. This was our fault, not theirs. Us. Because now is the time to make the changes you want. It’s up to you. It’s up everyone within the sound of our voices. I know y’all who say you’re not looking. We know you are watching.

HOSTIN: What’s even more surprising is the abortion issue. Just yesterday, I read that white suburban women in Republican homes are now more likely to vote Republican.

BEHAR: Why?

HOSTIN: It’s almost as if roaches are voting for Raid. Right?

[Crosstalk]

FARAH GRAFFIN: No. It’s not true, it’s an insult to the voter.

HOSTIN: They are voting against their self-interest! Do they want to leave Gilead? Do they want to be in The Handmaid’s Tale

FARAH GRAFIN: But why, if the issue has just been brought up?

HOSTIN: I haven’t really revolved – evolved on this issue in a while. I am Catholic. This is my faith. For me, abortion is wrong. There is a separation of church and state. I don’t have the right to tell anyone else. They are voting for their own self-interests.

SARA HAINES – What you are saying is a great example. This is a big issue for me as a person sitting here. This election is more important to me than the deniers. Everyone has a priority. To me, voting is a priority. I used to think that President Donald Trump was the only one who had a priority list. It’s now everyone on the Republican side. This scares me the most. Even so, I place women’s rights second.

BEHAR: Is it possible to just say –

[Crosstalk]

BEHAR: You don’t vote for Republicans, you know. You are voting for a cult. Keep that in mind. It’s a cult. It’s no longer Republicans.
