Sunny Hostin Really Admits to Voter Fraud?

Sunny Hostin, who may have admitted that she had committed voter fraud on Tuesday’s Election Day edition ABC’s The View for her college-aged son, interrupted their Republican bashing and doomsaying over the fate of the country.

Hostin interrupted Whoopi Goldberg’s ranting about how “it will be what it is going be” and picked up her phone to read a message. “It’s mine. She explained that he wanted to make sure his absentee ballot was submitted.

She admitted then that she had “problems actually voting for him absentee today.”

The only thing that “concerned her” about the whole process was that they were putting them in an orange bag, and not a locked container. Here’s her version of the story:

HOSTIN: Today, I had difficulty voting absentee for him and that made me very worried. It’s my first time.

JOY BEHAR: What’s the deal? What happened?

HOSTIN: She told me to put it in the bag on the ground. The orange bag looked to me like a Target bag. I asked her, “Isn’t there a formal electoral box that says absentee votes or something like this?” She then said, “Let me check.”

BEHAR: Wow.

HOSTIN: That concerned me. He wanted to ensure that he voted.

New York State election laws allow Hostin to drop off her son’s ballot. “If you are unable to pick up your ballot, you can designate someone to do so. Only the person on your application can pick up and deliver your ballot,” New York’s election website states.

Hostin mentioned that her son was away at Harvard University in Massachusetts, and she had recently spoken of him. In Tuesday’s episode, Hostin revealed that she lives in Westchester County in New York.

The question is: When/where did her son receive his ballot before it was filled out? Did he complete the ballot himself or was he at home? Another New York election website describes the casting process and notes that the voter must sign and date the “Security Envelope”. So who signed the security envelope. Why not mail it if he had it at school? Why didn’t he return it to his home if he had it at school?

Here’s how to vote absentee in New York.

1. After you have received the ballot, mark it according to your selections for each office. Follow the instructions on the ballot.

2. After you have finished marking your ballot, fold it up and put it in the Security Envelope. This envelope will contain a place for you to sign.

3. Sign and date the Security Envelope.

4. Seal the Security Envelope

5. All absentee ballots come with a pre-paid Return envelope. Place the Security Envelope inside the Return Envelope. This envelope should bear the return address of the county Board of Elections on its outside and a logo that says, “Official Election Mail”. The Return Envelope doesn’t require additional postage.

6. Seal the Return Envelope

It could be illegal for her to sign the envelop and fill out the ballot as his proxy. This could lead to voter fraud.

Another problem with New York’s absentee voting system is that they are automatically sent out after the first application has been approved. The election site states that you will automatically receive an absentee vote for every election until you cancel your registration.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG : It is what it is going be. People are anxious, people are tense and people are out in large numbers. There are positives and negatives on both sides. It happens. You can’t help but notice it. God bless you!

SUNNY HOSTIN : It’s my son.

[Laughter]

Who, by the side, wanted to ensure that his absentee vote was — that I did and I had difficulty actually voting for him absentee today, which made me very worried. It’s the first.

GOLDBERG : This should concern you. Many of the things we’ve heard this year about people being blocked are true. It doesn’t seem like it is stopping people. Because people are coming out in large numbers!

[Applause]

HOSTIN: Exactly. Exactly.

GOLDBERG : They are coming out in droves for the vote. We want to know why.
