The ‘P” in PBS stands for ‘Phony’, as in Phony “Republicans” in a Bipartisan’ Segment

The false impression of balance on PBS NewsHour is not just Friday night with Jonathan Capehart “versus David Brooks”, as they agree on almost everything.

On Wednesday night, NewsHour featured an interview segment titled “Democratic & Republican Strategists on What Worked and What Didn’t in Midterm Campaigns”

That headline is incredibly dishonest. Sarah Longwell, of the “Republican Accountability Project”, was the “Republican”. This group openly supports Democrats in elections. Nobody invited spoke if they wanted Republicans to win.

Longwell was pleased that Republicans who are prolife without exceptions won big in her focus groups. It’s a “good evening” for Democracy when Democrats such as Josh Shapiro win (and nobody mentions how Shapiro spent huge amounts to support his opponent during the primary).

LONGWELL: It was a great night for democracy. I was worried about the possibility that these governor’s and secretary of states races could be swept up in the red wave. You would then have a lot of people certifying elections for 2024 who don’t believe in certifying actual results.

We had good nights in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan where the Democrats won. They kept out the election deniers. It was a terrible night for Donald Trump, his candidates and the idea he had put forward.

PBS and its liberal base believe there are no “election deniers” within the Democrat Party. Brian Kemp in Georgia kept Stacey Abrams out of the “election denier” category, but it didn’t appear in this segment. Later, Longwell was delighted that Democrats had succeeded in defining Republicans’ extreme views on abortion as she discovered in her focus groups.

LONGWELL

The Democrats did a fantastic job. They spent a lot of money in the beginning. These issues were what they defined candidates. The swing voters were able to see how extreme the Republican candidates were by the time it came to voting. That made a huge difference.

Whitmer supports abortion without limits, but PBS believes that this is compassionate and not extreme. Longwell ended by regretting that not more Republicans lost.

LONGWELL: I have to admit that I was very alarmed to see the Republican Party descend into conspiracy theories and election denial. It is a shame to see so many election deniers in key swing states.

Despite this, the party continues its radicalization. There are many election deniers who won last night. They are all in safer areas. So I am still deeply concerned about the current state of the Republican Party.

On August 17, there was a similar feeling when the NewsHour discussed Liz Cheney’s primary loss with Longwell, former Wyoming state Rep. Tim Stubson and Cheney backers. Longwell stated that she was not a Republican now. “There really is no going back in the party I came up with, to the party I knew.” It has now fully supported Donald Trump’s anti-democratic movement.”

Your tax dollars support the PBS NewsHour. You can also bug your Member of Congress and complain to the show’s underwriters, Consumer Cellular or Fidelity Investments.
