The readers of Univision anchor Jorge Ramos’ latest opinion column had to read 17 paragraphs worth of nonsensical fluff just to confirm the extent of the veteran journalist’s disconnect from the very demographic he interacts with every day. Ramos claims that the reason Hispanics have moved away from the Democratic Party was because Biden (and Obama failed to legalize 10,000,000 illegal immigrants).
This theory was first proposed by Ramos in his U.S. 10/30 interview. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto…
JORGE RAMOS – I would like to ask you about the changing Latino vote. According to polls, it seems that it is shifting towards the Republican Party. This could be a reaction to the many promises of immigration reform made over the past 10 years by Democrats.
In an opinion column entitled, The cost to promise too much and not deliver:
Hispanics are very aware of the immigration issue. It is something that is very dear to their hearts. We all are immigrants or know someone who is. Hispanics are losing patience with Democrats who have promised so much over so long on an important issue. They want immediate results. It is possible that many will vote for another party.
Wait, what? How is it possible that Hispanics who are fed up with O-Biden’s failure to legalize 10,000,000 undocumented migrants vote for the “other party” that opposes legalizing 10,000,000 undocumented migrants AND open border? What planet is that possible?
After a lengthy intro about politicians’ unkept promises, the editorial mentions a general poll showing that “the Democrats will lose control of the House of Representatives and perhaps the Senate as well.” The poll from, in the words of Ramos “the trusted” www.fivethirtyeight.com, does not include data pertaining to Hispanics, a questionable reference given the numerous polls aired over Univision News concluding that a majority of Hispanics favor Democrats.
As Univision’s Special Editororial Advisor to the CEO sees, it:
If that happens (Republicans win the Senate and the House of Representatives), then forget about immigration reform to legalize more than 10 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Republicans won’t move unless there is border security. It is impossible. Because of history and nature, the border between Mexico and America is porous. It will never be inaccessible. It is impossible to stop someone seeking a better future from the other side, regardless of whether they are looking for it through walls, deserts, rivers, or thousands upon thousands of border patrol agents. You can also see the proof in the Venezuelan and Cuban refugees.
Because of history and nature, the border is porous. It will never be inaccessible, it is true. It is impossible to control the unprecedented crisis that is raging right now because of the poor handling by Biden and his Administration.
Ramos concludes the opinion piece by stating that “We will soon find out, in the coming election, whether the Hispanic voter’s shift towards the Republican party remains or if it is a Trump phenomenon.” It is clear that promising a lot but not delivering is not the best way of winning votes. Everyone eventually gets tired. “He who promises much gives little.”
Noticed for the record. Let’s see if Ramos has any other excuses for the “unfulfilled promises regarding immigration” in his next opinion piece.
