Washington Post Claims that Democrats Look to Centrists on the Campaign Trail

The Washington Post published a misleading headline on Monday’s front page.

Democrats turn to centrists as the GOP increases its base.

Who are these “centrists?” This is the front page story of Annie Linskey and Cara McGoogan. Republicans are giving the red meat to their base ….

Many Democrats are also trying to emphasize more moderate themes. They overlook the far left and bring in surrogates who appeal middle-of the-road voters like former president Bill Clinton, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.).

On Sunday, in Pennsylvania — one the most crucial Senate contests in the country – Democrats tacked so hard towards the center that they hosted an event with a former Republican congressman.

This is Jim Greenwood who, as they explain in many paragraphs, left Congress in 2004. He’s chairman of “Republicans4Shapiro,” and called liberal Democrat Josh Shapiro “a sane, commonsense, well-thought-of public servant.”

Did Buttigieg sound like a “centrist” when they ran to be president? Klobuchar’s lifetime American Conservative Union rating is five percent. Bill Clinton was referred to as a “centrist” in 1992. Later in the story, the Posties included Barack Obama to their list of moderates who “won’t alienate swing voters.”

None of these Democrats are today a centrist — not on abortion, LGBTQ, systemic racism, inflation, or super-spending.

The story also mentions Bernie Sanders’ appearance at the Wisconsin Senate candidate Mandela Bars, which is not a “centrist”. The most striking passage was the Post allowing Al Sharpton, yes, Al Sharpton, to speak against racial division and anti-Semitism.

Some of the divisive GOP rhetoric is alarming Democrats and civil rights leaders, who are becoming more anxious about tensions surrounding Tuesday’s elections. Critics claim they are particularly concerned by the increase in political violence, including the Jan. 6 attack on Paul Pelosi and the violent assault on Nancy Pelosi (D.Calif.).

“They are blatantly appealing to people’s race bias to get them vote for ‘us against them’,” the Rev. Al Sharpton spoke in an interview with The Washington Post. [Insert LOLs.] Sharpton claimed that he had just spoken to Biden, who he said recorded an anti-racism and racism message for his radio show.

Sharpton stated that it used to be subtle when Sharpton was referring to stoking racial tension. They wouldn’t be explicit. It was implicit. They’ve now gone where caution is not. It is clear.”

The networks loved Barack Obama’s divisive “us-vs.-them” rhetoric. He claimed that the Democrats controlled the market on all things. This meant that Republicans were illogical, stupid tyrants.

Obama’s unlimited arrogance: “Fundamental Rights are on the Ballot.” Truth, facts, logic and reason as well as basic decency are all on the ballot. Democracy itself is on it. The Democrats are democracy, truth and fact and logic and reason, and basic decency. pic.twitter.com/CII2TkNw7s
