Mad Money host Jim Cramer shook his fellow “Squawkers”, CNBC’s “Squawkers,” into silence, defending government propaganda and suggesting people need a propagandist to convince them to get vaccinated.
Cramer said, “Your mic’s silent,” and he looked down at two other panelists on the November 1 edition of Squawk on the Street. They were having a conversation about China’s draconian Zero-Covid strategy. Cramer, a host known for making poor economic predictions, was ranting about China’s COVID-19 policies. Cramer asked, “What would you do if you told people that the only way to beat [COVID-19] was no vaccine, and now you have vaccine?” “So, I think you need a propagandist.” [Emphasis on added].
Both panelists were stunned and speechless when Cramer seemed to endorse a vaccine “propagandist.” Chu even tried to cradle Cramer’s fall with verbal gymnastics. Chu said, “Outside the state infrastructure,” and Cramer replied, “to begin moving political opinion.”
Cramer stated, leaving the other panelists in shock, “But I think when you think of propaganda we think about other regims that we didn’t really appreciate.” After a awkward silence, Cramer said, “Your microphone is silent.”
CNBC reporter David Faber stated, “I am silent.” Faber stated, “I’m just thinking of those poor people stuck at Disney Shanghai Disney, for… I mean there are worse places.” Cramer laughed, “Chief it’s just a real small universe after all,” referring to the famous Disney ride and ode of world peace.
Cramer would be able to tell you about his role as a “propagandist” for vaccines. This is the same man who shouted at Americans live, advocating for vaccine mandates Dec. 2021: “Require universal vaccination. It should be administered by the military. You can refuse to be vaccinated if you want.
Cramer also criticised Chinese propaganda, saying that “a chief propagandist lies as hell” with a remarkable lack self awareness. I mean, what’s their point as a propagandist? They do it for a living.
During the latest episode of embarrassing Cramer hot take, the CNBC panelists also expressed concern about China’s zero-Covid strategy at Shanghai Disney Resort. The Chinese government “literally kept people inside the park until they returned with a negative test.” Dominic Chu, senior markets correspondent at CNBC, said that it was “just amazing”. Faber asked, “Was it three different tests, over 24hrs?”
Cramer seemed less concerned about the plight Chinese citizens held in a makeshift prison called “the happiest spot on earth” by Disney. “I mean, look. I had a PCR test at 10 with someone and they gave it back to me by 5. They don’t think it is wrong.”
