WOMP,WOMP: CBS gets a case of the sads over voters not caring about January 6

Wednesday’s CBS Mornings featured a preview of next week’s news after what’s expected be a massive red wave election. They also lamented the fact that voters still refuse to accept the fact that they don’t care about January 6, or the House January 6-Select Committee.

CBS’ January 6-obsessed correspondent Scott MacFarlane got the story thanks to a trip to Virginia’s Second Congressional District. This district includes much of Hampton Roads and has tacked to center for decades. MacFarlane linked the district to January 6, as it is currently represented by Elaine Luria (D).

MacFarlane exclaimed that Luria “has something to talk about” because of “[w]hat [she] calls her efforts to stop another attempted insurrection against democracy.”

MacFarlane, to his dismay, explained that “[i]t is just unclear if that will sway enough votes.”

MacFarlane maintained that “inflation” and “abortion rights are dominating the discussion,” but “this race and campaign season are unlike any other” since “Luria, who isn’t a typical incumbent,”

MacFarlane, however, boasted that “[s]he was] one of nine Congressmen who became national figures leading House January 6th Select Committee.”

He said that Kiggans had “slam[med]] Luria [for focusing too heavily on the investigation]”, with Kiggans telling Luria that January’s obsession “shows…she is out of touch.”

MacFarlane responded with dismay, before turning to Luria. She said she didn’t “care”, because history was too important (click “expand”)

KIGGANS – I think it shows she’s outof touch with the district.

MACFARLANE [TO KIGANS]: Are you out of touch with the committee?

KIGGANS

MACFARLANE – Luria strikes back and criticizes Kiggins for questioning Virginia’s 2020 election results. A state that President Biden won by ten votes. [TO LURIA] Does it pose any political risk to be a face for the January 6th Committee in one these evenly divided districts?

LURIA: I don’t care. It is true that the committee’s work is important. They are on the right side, getting to the facts.

MacFarlane, who was live with the co-hosts promoted Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming (Republican-Electrician), endorsing liberal Democrats under the name “saving the country” (or something). This led Gayle King, a Democratic donor, to swoon: “She really is standing for what she believes.”

MacFarlane expressed his surprise at Virginia Beach voters’ knowledge of January 6 and his friends from Congress, but the economy is “top-of-mind” and specifically “gas prices,” grocery prices, and “inflation.”

Tony Dokoupil, the co-host, slammed Americans trying to survive and provide food for their families, telling them that although that “affects” them today, threats to democracy “may impact you down the road.

Dokoupil doubled down on the lunacy of a 8:00 a.m. Eastern “Eye Opener” that this House seat would ultimately be decided “based on how voters feel about investigation into the January 6th attack.”

Advertisers like Walgreens and Prevagen made it possible for liberal elitism to be disconnected from the voters’ real concerns. Follow these links to view their contact information on the MRC’s Conservatives Fight Back Page.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE] America Decides ’22; Virginia Race Close; GOP Challenger Sees to Unseat Democratic Jan.6 Committee Member]

NATE BURLESON – Control of the House will also be up for grabs on Tuesday. Our latest battleground tracker survey shows that Republicans are the most likely to win a majority. There are many close races, including one that involves a member from the January 6th Committee. Scott MacFarlane has spent time in that state and is now here with us. Good morning Scott. It’s good to see you.

SCOTT MACFARLANE : Hey Nate, it’s good to see you too. This race is against Republican candidate Jen Kiggins, and incumbent Democrat Elaine Luria. Congresswoman Luria has something to share. She calls it her attempt to stop another attempted insurrection against democracy. It’s not clear if this will sway enough voters. One thing is on the minds of voters at a Virginia Beach farmers market:

VIRGINIA VOTER 1: Food prices are terrible. It’s gone, it’s skyrocketed.

VIRGINIA VOTER 2: Prices of everything, gasoline and groceries, it’s unbelievable.

MACFARLANE – Like so many other congressional races, inflation is dominating the debate between Elaine Luria, Democratic incumbent Congresswoman, and Jen Kiggins Republican challenger, both U.S. Navy veteran —

CONGRESSWOMAN ELIZABETH LURIA (D),: I believe a woman should be able to choose her own path.

STATE SENATOR JENKIGGANS (R),: We are suffering this season because of the failed policies by the Joe Biden administration.

MACFARLANE — Except this is a race, and a campaign season unlike any other.

LURIA [on 10.13.22]: Donald Trump intentionally repeated this nonsense.

MACFARLANE – Because Luria isn’t a typical incumbent. She is one of nine Congress members who rose to national prominence as leaders of the House January 6th Select Committee.

LURIA [on 7/21/22]: Our hearings revealed the many ways that President Trump attempted to stop peaceful transfer of power.

MACFARLANE – Her opponent criticizes Luria’s insistence on the investigation.

KIGGANS – I think it shows she’s outof touch with the district.

MACFARLANE [TO KIGANS]: Are you out of touch with the committee?

KIGGANS

MACFARLANE – Luria hits back, criticizing Kiggins’ questioning of Virginia’s 2020 election results. A state that President Biden won by ten votes. [TO LURIA] Does it pose any political risk to be a face for the January 6th Committee in one these evenly divided districts?

LURIA: I don’t care. It is true that the work of the committee is important. They are on the right side, getting to the facts.

MACFARLANE – The other nine members of the panel will be gone at the close of the year. Two of them are retiring. Congresswoman Liz Cheney, you’ll remember, lost her primary in Wyoming. This was a wedge issue. She served on the committee. Last night, Liz Cheney in Michigan, who claims she will defeat the election deniers in Michigan, endorsed a Democrat.

KING: Yes. Yes. It is a little strange to see this picture. She is really standing up for what she believes. It’s fascinating to hear from voters that emotions are so strong on both sides. Everyone feels strongly about this election.

MACFARLANE – We are in Virginia Beach, where they have strong ideas, but they also bring up inflation.

BURLESON: Yeah.

MACFARLANE : They raise grocery prices. They raise the gas prices. They all know about the January 6th committee.

KING: Yeah.

MACFARLANE: But

KING: This is not their top priority.

MACFARLANE – Not top of mind.

TONY DOKOUPIL – One thing can affect you today, and another thing could affect you later.

BURLESON: Right.

MACFARLANE is immediate and long-term.

BURLESON – Scott, it’s always a pleasure to have you in the studio. We are grateful.

(….)

[ON-SCREEN HEAVENLINE: Key Hose Race]

KIGGANS – I think it shows she’s outof touch with the district.

BURLESON: Virginia’s race is close. It all depends on how Virginians feel about the investigation into the January 6th attack.

LURIA: It is true that the work of the committee is so important.
