ght for the Day: Laurence Berns and Modern Science // (Steven Hayward).

Laurence Berns, a long-time tutor at St. Johns College, is featured in the new essay collection Polis, Nature and Piety: On The Natural Basis of Political Life. (Thanks to Alex Priou, for this compilation).

Science was initially pursued and considered a key component to the perfection of human existence. Husserl said that the crisis of modern science is “the loss of meaning in life.” Aristotle’s view on nature and human nature, such as the distinction between good or bad, makes sense. We seek to understand what is still valid in Aristotelian views of nature for a sound view on human life.

Shorter: Aristotle is still correct about the most important matters.
