Liberals are shocked at Elon Musk’s move to free Twitter. How can we live without censorship? People might say negative things about Saint Fauci!
However, Americans are in Musk’s camp. Rasmussen is shocked at the level of concern expressed about censorship in social media. Nearly everyone believes that political censorship continues:
Rasmussen Reports’ latest online and telephone survey found that 77% of Likely U.S. citizens believe that Facebook and other social media sites like it censors news and commentary due to political bias. 52% of respondents thought it was Very Likely. Only 14% believe it’s unlikely that social media sites engage in political censorship.
It’s not something that many people like.
72% (72%) believe that censorship by social-media companies is a serious problem. 49% of them consider it a Very Serious issue. Twenty percent (20%) do not believe it’s a serious issue.
It is not surprising that 66% of voters approve of GOP plans for investigating social media censorship. Only 26% disapprove.
The same survey also shows that Republicans believe censorship is more important than misinformation, while Democrats think “misinformation is more important than censorship.” It is a surprising fact that most Democrats believe that any person they disagree with is misinformation. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a single Democrat cite Russia collusion hoax, the great disinformation campaign in our time, as an example of misinformation.
Elon Musk is supported by the vast majority of Americans, despite his anger at liberals.
