Because the left wanted you to forget that Calvin Coolidge was a thoughtful man with a deep understanding of progressivism and a critique of it, they promoted the idea that Calvin Coolidge should go by the name “Silent Cal”. Given the current situation in which big tech (especially the FBI), and big government (especially big tech) are working together to suppress left-leaning dissent, it is worth recalling Coolidge’s comment:

We can appreciate the wisdom of our fathers when we consider the immense power, uncontrolled and autocratic, that would have been created if we combined the authority of government and the influence of business. This made Washington the political centre of the country and allowed New York to become its business center. They did great things for freedom.

This was all erased by progressivism.
