ronmentalists are Killing People // (John Hinderaker).

Cold weather can be dangerous for your health. Modern-day citizens in developed countries have found a way to combat the dangers of winter with affordable heating. These days are over, however. Vijay Jayaraj, Real Clear Energy writes: “Winter’s risks increased by irrational energy policies.” See original for more links:

Humans are more susceptible to winter morbidity and death than other species, as they were born in the tropics. Because of their reduced strength and dexterity at low temperatures, cold-weather exposure can increase the risk of stroke, respiratory infections and other injuries. The risk of falling, flu infection, or other serious illness is higher in colder climates.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), “Death rates during winter months have been eight to 12 percent higher than in nonwinter months.” They also state that “even moderately cold days could increase the risk of death for many people.”

Winter risks can be reduced by heating homes and other buildings.

However, even in advanced economies, irrational energy policy can threaten the ability to heat homes.

It is not surprising that people in developed countries tend to reduce winter heating because of the high cost of electricity and gas. Fuel poverty is a factor in New Zealand’s high winter mortality and hospitalizations. A report by the European Parliament states that 36 million Europeans were not able to heat their homes sufficiently in 2020.

The UK’s National Health Service is the second largest publicly funded healthcare system in terms of its size. It has issued a stark warning about rising energy prices.

The chief executive of the NHS confederation stated that “The country is facing an humanitarian crisis.” Many people will have to choose between not having enough food or heating their homes, or living in very uncomfortable conditions. This could lead to an increase in sickness and illness in the country, worsening health inequalities, and leaving a lasting scar on local communities.

A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research in the United States found that a lower heating cost reduces winter mortality. This was mainly due to cardiovascular and respiratory reasons.

Expensive energy means more sickness and death. This is completely avoidable. The anti-human environmental movement is responsible.

The current heating crisis is caused by “green” policies, which have increased the cost of energy in developed countries. Insistence on switching to solar and wind has led to increased energy prices and decreased reliability. Blackouts such as those experienced by millions of people over Christmas weekend pose a serious threat to our lives.

The Left doesn’t value human life or well-being. It is up to us to stop the human catastrophe that “green” energy could cause.
