The COVID response is undoubtedly the most serious mistake in American public policy history. It was followed by a series of foolish lockdowns, school closings, and other authoritarian measures that were both ineffective and ignorant of adverse tradeoffs.

Dr. Scott Atlas, Stanford’s Hoover Institution, has been criticized for his dissent on the party line on COVID. This is most clearly explained in his book, “A Plague Upon Our House”: My Fight at Trump White House to Stop America from Being Destroyed by COVID. Dr. Atlas discusses the failure to consider the tradeoffs in our COVID policy. This is ultimately a result of dangerous groupthink within our “public health” establishment.

Our conversation turns to larger issues raised by this episode, such as authoritariancensorship and the nature the administrative state. Dr. Atlas explains that he is frequently asked the following question during his recent travels around the globe: “What’s wrong with America right now?”

Dr. Atlas doesn’t just criticize COVID’s response. Dr. Atlas isn’t content to criticize our COVID response. He co-founded the Global Liberty Institute. This institute will promote accountability for policy failures like those we see in COVID, and other ruinous areas. Dr. Atlas stated that universities must be held accountable for failing academic freedom and taking in large amounts of taxpayer money.
