I believe that polling has shown long-standing support for a balanced federal budget and for an amendment to the budget. Most states already have this requirement. Rasmussen’s findings regarding Congress’s latest debtravangza follow that history.

Rasmussen Reports’ latest national telephone and online survey found that 76% of Likely U.S. The size of the U.S. debt, now at more than $31 trillion, is a concern for voters. 53% are Very Concerned. Only 21% of Americans aren’t concerned about the debt’s size.

In 2010, or 2011, the Power Line Prize contest was held to encourage artistic productions about the danger posed by the national default. The $100,000 grand prize attracted hundreds of entries, including videos, songs and screenplays. Many of them were outstanding, and the top ten were revealed one at a.m., drawing millions of internet users. Although the contest was a huge success, it did not have any impact on national debt.

Concerning the $1.7 trillion “omnibus” inflation act, which was passed by the lame duck Democrats of Congress:

Forty-five per cent (45%) of voters approve the new spending bill. This includes 24% who Strongly Support it. 50 percent (50%) disapprove. 37% strongly disagree.

This means that many who claim to be concerned about the national debt approved the omnibus bill. More:

Former President Donald Trump called the $1.7 trillion spending bill a “monstrosity”, and a “disaster to our country.”

Sixty-one per cent (61%) of voters agree with this description, with 45% who Strongly Agree. Three-quarters of the population (32%) disagree with this description, including 19% who strongly disagree.

This means that even though some people think the Democrats’ bill is a “disaster to our country”, they still approve of it.

I’d like to know how serious people are when they tell pollsters that they are worried about our rapidly rising debt. It currently stands at $31 trillion. At 4% interest, the debt service for this amount will be approximately $1.24 trillion per year. This is 5 percent of our total gross domestic product of $25 Trillion. The federal total spending is approximately $5.8 trillion. In 2000, the total federal spending was $1.77 Trillion.

Do they really care about deficit spending? It’s not something I can recall. The lame duck Democrat Congress was not afraid to spend another $1.7 trillion. This was backed up by zero taxes and zero incremental production. It was inflation. Although the Democrats understood this, they did not fear retribution at polls. They are correct, I fear.

If the Republican majority in Congress succeeds in reducing deficit spending and slowing growth of the debt, then will it be rewarded in 2024 Although I hope so, I honestly doubt it. Voters’ actions speak louder then their words when it comes to the deficit.
