Biden docs, round 2 // (Scott Johnson)
NBC News reported that Joe Biden had a second set classified documents in his possession at an undisclosed place this November. Here is the NBC News story. The story has been confirmed and reported in general. Among the many stories that are available are those from the AP hier and Washington Post (via JWR hier). It is amazing. Here are some facetious remarks about it.
* Each story is based on a single source: “A person familiar with this matter (NBC News, AP), or “a person familiar in the investigation” (the Washington Post or similar). This person must have been very busy yesterday. Who could he be?
* I’m going out on a limb to speculate that the “person” in question is part of President Biden’s “legal team.”
* The media repeated the exulpatory assurances of Biden’s lawyer in unison when the first batch of classified documents were discovered. I posted the statement of the lawyer in Biden Unclassified.” They repeated his assurances that the matter was true. These reporters are hacks and shills. It was obvious, but it is worth repeating.
* According to the busy “person” who provided yesterday’s stories, the second set of classified documents was discovered in November around the same time that the first batch. However, the discovery of the second batch contradicts the lawyer’s claim.
* President Biden does not know anything about the first or second batches. He did the right things, even though he doesn’t know what they are.
* Biden doesn’t know anything about anything. He doesn’t know anything about anything. We can all agree on this. He is astonished at the revelation.
* The Biden documents are not classified documents that were taken from President Trump. They do not pose a threat to the national security of the United States, or the possibility of destruction of the universe.
* The AP story reveals the AP’s impatience in following the Biden line. “The revelation that additional classified files were uncovered by Biden’s attorneys came after White House press secretary Karine Jean Pierre dodged questions about Biden’s handling of classified information, and the West Wing’s management of the discovery.” Perhaps KJP is testing the limits of the AP’s patience.
* The AP report is blunt about KJP. “[She] refused to say when Biden had been briefed. She also refused to tell us why the White House waited over two months to disclose the discovery of the first batch of documents, which were discovered Nov. 2, just days before the midterm election.”
* Yet, the AP continues to act in the accustomed manner for President Biden: “There is significant difference between the Trump situation and the Biden situation, including the gravity a grand jury investigation into Mar-a-Lago.”
* This could mean that the Biden matter could be considered “grave” if it was investigated by a grand jury. It’s not yet grave. It could be investigated by a grand jury. It is therefore at most theoretically grave.
* Let us sign off with the wisdom and insight of Joe Biden, as dutifully elicited at 60 Minutes.
