! The Senate has introduced legislation that could require the U.S. Supreme Court establish its own code because it has proven so successful for officials. The legislation that Sen. Angus King ( I-ME ), and Lisa Murkowski ( R-AK ), would require the court to enact a new code of conduct within a year of it becoming law, and post it on its website for public viewing. The court would also need to appoint a person to investigate any complaints of code violations, and assign them the responsibility of determining whether staff or judges have engaged in behavior which interferes with the administration justice, or has broken any laws or codes of conduct. > >
