Barry Charles Laughton, a former Democrat state representative who is explicitly trans, was detained on Thursday on suspicion of possessing and disseminating child pornography.
Barry, 39, who then goes by the name Stacie, was detained along with Lindsay Groves, a past daycare worker in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. Groves sent incorrect photos of the daycare kids to Laughton. Additionally, it was claimed that the two were romantically involved. U.S. attorney Joshua S. Levy claimed that Groves” took nude images of children at the daycare and sent the photos to Laughton, with whom she was recently in an intimate relationship, between May 2022 and June 2023 ,” according to Boston-based news station WFXT-TV. According to a report from WFXT, Groves and Laughton exchanged about 2,500 messages that included” expressed photographs of children that Griffiths had taken while employed at[ the day care ], including at least four sexually explicit images of kids who appear to be between the ages of three and five.”
Unfortunately, Laughton has repeatedly broken the law and received votes to represent the N.H. Laughton became the second transgender representative when she was first elected in 2012. Laughton resigned soon after, though, when it was discovered that he was still serving time for a 2008 felony.
Laughton was reelected to the New Hampshire House in November 2022. Just one month afterward, in December, he once more resigned from his position due to more legal issues. Laughton was reportedly detained on stalking suspicions. He declared he would run suddenly in the future and posted his resignation on social media.

I’m no longer a state representative as of today, which is quite disheartening, but Laughton promised in the video that he would return to it. He continued,” I’m not perfect. I’ll be going to mental health court, getting some counseling, and trying to get my life back on track. Even in the future, I won’t be perfect, but I will be a better version of myself and ready to deal with challenges. I’ll run for state representative once more in two years, in the following election.
