After collapsing on the field during practice this week, a large school football player from Long Island is on life support. Only about four minutes of Monday practice were spent on the field by Robert Bush, 1717, before he passed out from a reportedly” respiratory event.”
While they waited for clinical assistance, Bush’s coaches gave the teen CPR and attempted to shock him with a defibrillator. Bush had been unconscious for approximately 45 minutes when emergency first responders arrived and took him to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Steve Bush, Bush’s older brother, said,” His heart had stopped on the field, down for about 45 minutes longer without a pulse ,” in an interview with News 12. They are now doing everything to keep him alive while he is still on a vent in an induced coma.
Steve told Newsday,” There’s no more brain function.” ” We are currently dealing with the end.”

Bush was adopted by parents Robert and Patricia when he was a young child. Bush wanted to play on the school’s varsity football team.
Bush had 10 siblings, ranging in age from 16 to 56, and was not the sole child to be raised by this couple.
Robert is currently dealing with serious health problems, and Patricia passed away from cancer in 2017.
Chris, a different brother of Bush’s, revealed to Newsday that he raised Robert and taught him how to play football. Chris praised his younger brother for being” constantly trying to make himself better” and being motivated.
” He desired to wed. He desired to have children just like us. As a result, it’s killing us, as you can tell from where he was in his life and how far it has gotten in the past two years, Chris said.
Chris urged others to pray for his brother while clinging to a glimmer of hope, saying,” We need prayers right now.” We want him to live on.
To assist in providing support for Bush’s family, a GoFundMe has been established.
