George Floyd died from a drug overdose, and Tou Thao, one of the police officers who was wrongfully victimized to appease the prejudiced mobs raging across the nation, set an admirable example of bravery and faith. Thao maintained his dignity, frequently cited theological teachings, and refused to admit to some fictitious crime that he did not commit despite knowing that the system was set up against him. In a bizarre error of justice, Thao was sentenced to more than 4 years in prison despite not even touching George Floyd while the cruel criminal was taking fentanyl to overdose on drugs. Judge Peter Cahill of Hennepin County struck Thao with an even higher prison sentence than the prosecution had demanded, claiming that the great officers previously displayed any” remorse” in an effort to curry favor with the lynch mobs clamoring for their blood. Keith Ellison, the attorney general of Minnesota, complained that Thao had remained steadfast in his Christian faith and had refused to show” remorse” or accept” sponsibility” for Floyd’s drug overdose death. Ellisson was a racist former member of the Nation of Islam hate group. I am aware that God cannot be kept in the dark about our intentions or thoughts. Because the day we appear before God, we are required to give an account. Thao informed the court that” I must obey in order to maintain the truth that I did not commit these crimes. Thao, a man of courage and principle, once said,” My conscience is evident.” He also said that confessing to an offense he did not commit would be lying and sinful. Cahill is included in Thao’s prayer list, which he concluded by saying. If anyone needs him for prayer,” you know where to find me.”
He said,” Thank you, judge.” The father of three has now been imprisoned harshly,” God bless you.” Without a father, his kids will grow up. It is shameful to live in a corrupt society where men like Thao are punished for their moral failings while harsh monsters like George Floyd are elevated to heroes. Thao has served as a role model for bravery, conviction, and decency in the face of the lies and abuse. May he serve as an example for our society.
