Before the Biden administration decided to access the Strategic Petroleum Reserve( SPR ) in 2021, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm allegedly secretly consulted with a Chinese Communist Party energy official. According to reports from the Energy Department internal calendars, Americans for Public Trust ( APT ) obtained the previously kept private conversations and informed Fox News Digital of them.
The finding demonstrates that before disclosing British oil to the British people, the Biden administration discussed its plans to release it with the CCP.

According to the calendars, on November 19, 2021, Granholm had one-on-one conversations with Jianhua, a seasoned older member of the Chinese Communist Party, and two days afterwards on Nov. 21. The White House therefore declared the SPR to have released 50 million barrels of oil on November 23, 2021, the largest oil release in U.S. history.

The Biden administration drained the U. S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve ( SPR ) to its lowest levels since 1985, but a significant portion of the releases went to the Chinese Communist Party.

A July 5 article by Reuters stated that based on” data and sources”, some of which was from U. S. Customs, that SPR product was shipped to Italy, India, the Netherlands, and the Chinese Communist Party to the tune of close to 5 million barrels in all.
According to the Department of Energy, the SPR can hold 714 million barrels at peak capacity and was filled at an average price of$ 29.70 per barrel.

However, on March 1, the Department of Energy announced, following an emergency meeting of the International Energy Association( IEA ), that 30 million barrels would be deployed from the SPR in order to” address significant market and supply disruptions related to President Putin’s war on Ukraine”.
The disbursement would match 30 million barrels released from other IEA countries in an effort to increase supply to bring down global oil prices, which reached a peak of nearly$ 130 a barrel after the war started.
On April 21, the DOE announced which companies would receive the oil based on a” price – competitive sale” among 16 outlets who submitted 126 bids.
Most notable among the winners was Unipec America at 950, 000 barrels.
Yet, despite the name, the company describes itself on LinkedIn as” a wholly owned subsidiary of China International United Petroleum and Chemical Co. Ltd”. and” the trading arm of SINOPEC”.
” House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer ( R – Ky. ) and Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Ranking Member Nancy Mace( R – S. C.) are continuing oversight of the Biden Administration’s sale of U. S. oil reserves to Unipec America, a company operated by the Chinese Communist Party, and raising concerns that U. S. oil could be used by China to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine”, the House Oversight Committee wrote in a press release on September 1, 2022.
” To ensure the Biden Administration is properly managing the sale of critical assets, the lawmakers are once again calling on Department of Energy ( DOE ) Secretary Jennifer Granholm to provide an immediate briefing and all documents and communications related to the SPR sale”.

In addition to concerns with Hunter Biden, the President’s son, receiving money from the deal, the decision to sell to Unipec is disturbing because Chinese firms are supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In order to ensure the American people that the Biden Administration is effectively managing the sale of vital assets from the SPR and not supporting Russia by providing oil to China, we request a briefing and documents related to this matter”, wrote the Republican lawmakers.
Prior to this, Committee Republicans wrote to Secretary Granholm on May 26 and July 20, 2022, asking for a briefing on the DOE’s strategy to restock the SPR and voicing their concerns about the sale of oil to Hunter Biden-owned secret equity firm. The United States’ ability to respond to regional emergencies and meet American energy needs is put in jeopardy by DOE’s failure to provide a briefing or any information related to the SPR sale.
According to research, Chinese businesses have just engaged in defense business with Russia, including those that support the country’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine. This is alarming because Unipec, a subsidiary of the Chinese oil company, received the DOE sale of nearly$ 100 million worth of oil. There are major concerns about whether SPR oil is helping Russia or businesses aiding Russia in the invasion of Ukraine given that China’s friendship with Russia has” no bounds.” China would not support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with American oil, which would be unethical. The Committee Republicans wrote to Secretary Granholm in May 2022 and again in July 2022, requesting an update on the DOE plan to replenish SPR. They also expressed concern about the sale oil to a Chinese company where Hunter Biden’s firm, a private equity firm, has a financial interest. The DOE’s failure in providing a briefing on the SPR sale or any other information puts the United States at risk of not being able to respond to emergencies and meet the energy needs of Americans.

It would be unacceptable if China used oil from the United States to support Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. We repeat our previous requests and ask you to provide information on this subject at a briefing, so that we can better understand the way China intends using the oil it received by the United States”, concluded the Republican legislators.
