Biden Throws $200M in Taxpayer Money at California’s Train to Nowhere

The high-speed train-to-nowhere project in California has a longer history of notoriety for very good reasons. An 800-mile high-speed rail( HSR ) network connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as the Central Valley to coastal cities, at speeds of up to 220 miles per hour, was approved by California voters in 2008 as seed money. Its completion date is anticipated in 2020.
However, never a single train has left the station as of yet, 15 years after the bond issue and three years past the anticipated completion date. Despite the fact that nearly all of the$ 9.95 billion seed money has been spent, not one route has ever been finished. Additionally, the initial$ 33 billion budget for the entire 800-mile system is now insufficient to build just one route( Bakersfield to Merced ), whose cost is estimated to be$ 207 million per mile — a cost that will almost certainly increase in the future and for a route that might not be completed for another ten years. or even more or possibly always. The system’s estimated current budget is$ 128 billion. How blatantly dishonest must you be to invest any money in this? Biden, please. California’s High-Speed Rail project received a$ 202 million grant from the provincial government, which will be used to complete the Central Valley section of the bullet train from Merced to Bakersfield. What exactly are they paying for? Six grade separations in Shafter, a little Kern County town northwest of Bakersfield, that will separate car traffic from high-speed rail, will be funded by the$ 202 million grant. According to the state’s High-Speed Rail Authority, work on these grade separations will start in August 2025 with an estimated completion date of three years. Is there a compelling argument against sending everyone involved in this to jail? The good news is that Biden will use this crooked boondoggle to extort$ 200 million that has been stolen from struggling British families. California’s high speed train to nowhere project has been infamous for many reasons. In 2008, California voters approved $9.95 Billion in state bond funding to build an 800-mile high-speed rail network (HSR) connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco and the Central Valley with coastal cities at speeds up to 220 mph, with an anticipated completion date of 2020.
Despite the fact that the bond issue was 15 years old and the completion date three years away, no train has yet left the station. Despite the fact that nearly all of the $9.95 billion in seed money has already been spent, not one route has yet been completed. The original budget of $33 billion, which was intended to cover the entire 800-mile network, is now insufficient to build one route (Bakersfield-Merced), whose cost per mile is $207 million. This cost will almost certainly increase in the future and the route may not be ready until ten years. Or more. How corrupt would you have to be in order to give any money to this project? Ask Biden. The federal government has awarded California’s High-Speed Rail Project a $202million grant. This grant will be used to fund six grade separations that will separate high-speed rail from car traffic in Shafter, a small Kern County city northwest of Bakersfield. According to the High-Speed Rail Authority, construction of these grade separations is expected to begin in August 2025, with a three-year estimate for completion.
