For some, the language symbolizes far-right Israeli militarism.”When you think of Moses, King David, and the Prophet Jeremiah, not to mention the Bible, you think of “far-right Israeli militarism”.Ilan Stevens, the leftist ignoramus responsible for this op-ed, claims that Zionists vilified Yiddish, when what he’s actually doing is echoing Soviet Communist propaganda which defined Yiddish as the language of the “working class” and Hebrew as a nationalist language that was banned. Soviet Jews, like my mother, smuggled and copied Hebrew dictionaries by hand while knowing that they faced prison if they were caught.Yiddish is heavily dependent on Hebrew and German. Demonizing Hebrew to uphold Yiddish makes no sense for anyone except Communists.
