We support CUNY while bombing ISIS. A common university that allowed underprivileged children to succeed and receive a good education has been replaced by City University of New York. They take pride in having produced as some Nobel laureates, but those times are long gone. Instead, CUNY has turned into an racist criminal hellhole where more than 80 faculty members are willing to sign a statement declaring that” military operations” include the murder of older women and children, the rape of women, and the kidnapping of children. We, the dean faculty and staff of the CUNY, vehemently object to Chancellor Félix Matos Rodriguez’s efforts to denounce expressions of solidarity with the Israeli people, according to the petition. The Chancellor asserted that anti-apartheid protesters would” glorify Saturday’s ] Oct. 7″ violence and celebrate the killings, injuries, and capture of innocent people” before the demonstrations on numerous campuses. The petition next demonstrates that the chancellor was correct when it asserts that” there is also no equivalence between the October 7 military operation by Hamas and the subsequent defense attack by the Jewish state, and certainly none to the widespread and violence of Israeli settler colonialism.” This prejudiced, false statement reproduces the prejudiced, Islamophobic rhetoric that has accompanied the drumbeat for war. Marc Lamont Hill, who had recently expressed support for kidnapping and killing Israeli teens, is one of the signatories to this petition calling for rape and child abduction. Additional signatories include Ellen Dichner, the Chief Counsel to the Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board under the Obama administration, Anna Stetsenko, a” developmental psychologist” from Russia, and Jonathan Buchsbaum, an author of” Cinema and the Sandinistas: Filmmaking in Revolutionary Nicaragua”( I believe he was the protagonist of —-). The Asian American Studies Programs at Northwestern University, meanwhile, published an open letter denouncing the” visible Islamophobia” expressed in pro-Israel posters on NU’s campus that falsely claimed that” Hamas is ISIS” and referring to Hamas as a” political group.” These are only a couple instances of academia’s mask revealing its hideous vileness.
