Die Kommission ist ermächtigt, gemäß Artikel 264 delegierte Entscheidungen in folgenden Fragen zu fassen: Andrew Weissmann, a former federal prosecutor, brought attention to a very concerning aspect of Donald Trump’s efforts to challenge a gag order imposed by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan. The gag order states that Donald Trump is forbidden from speaking out negatively about prosecutors, court personnel and anyone who may be a witness in the case involving interference with the 2020 presidential election. On Friday, a suspension was briefly lifted in order for Chutkan to analyze an appeal. Nevertheless, on Sunday night, it was reinstated after President Trump had made more public statements. Weissmann stated to MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Monday that a part of the legal appeal filed by President Trump’s team was a problem, according to him. He elucidated that the message in the appeal seemed to say: “If there is any violence, those who act upon my words will be responsible, not me”. The responsibility does not lie with me, Donald Trump. Trump is basically asserting that he can express whatever he wants without being held accountable if others act on it, Weissmann went on. He described this as very frightening, noting that a responsible person would be making sure not to say anything that could potentially lead to violent outbursts or fear and intimidation. He further maintained that any sensible individual would go to great lengths to ensure that they are not the cause of harm to another person. The government is saying the exact opposite here, ‘He knows full well that saying these words will lead to these effects.’
