House GOP nominates Jordan for Speaker: Live coverage

In the second vote of the week, House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R – Ohio) was elected Speaker by the Republican Conference. He beat challenger Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.). Jordan lost to Steve Scalise earlier in the week, who bowed-out late Thursday after it became clear he wouldn’t garner 217 votes.

 Jim Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, of Ohio, won the Democratic nomination for Speaker in this week’s next such vote. He defeated Rep. Austin Scott, a challenger from Georgia.
