Mike Johnson, used to give a seminar in churches based on the notion that the United States is an” Holy nation.” This ministry, as he has referred to it, is still more proof that Johnson is devoted to a fervent Christian fundamentalism that influences his political and governmental beliefs.
Answers for Our Times: Government, Culture, and Christianity is the name of the seminar that was put on by Onward Christian Education Services, Inc., a business owned by his wife Kelly Johnson, an anti-abortion activist and Holy counselor who refers to herself as” leader in the pro-family movement.” The seminar, which featured both her and Johnson, was described as exploring a number of issues, such as” What is happening in America and how can we fix it ,” according to the website for her counseling service. Can our Holy heritage as a country be preserved? is one of the questions on the list. There were various iterations of the seminar, ranging from lectures lasting two hours to two-day retreats.
This initiative was started in 2019 by Mike and Kelly Johnson, two fundamentalist Christian and culture war fighters who support following what they refer to as a” Bible worldview.” A local television news program reported that the seminar’s objective was to” keep God in Government” following one for presentation on February 24, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana, where they are members. Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, also attended the event. The article was published on Johnson’s website for Congress.
Before extending to different states, the Johnsons planned to initially pitch their seminars to Baptist churches in the Pelican State, according to a Louisiana Baptist newsletter. The couple’s objective, according to the publication, was” to equip churches to take a stand against the social assaults now being directed at people of faith, the standard family, and fundamental freedoms embedded in the U.S. Constitution.” It stated that Johnson claimed he was forced to establish this new ministry while serving in the US House due to his concern that” too many believers today feel ill-informed to provide meaningful answers to phony arguments.” Johnson was cited as saying,” Our country is going through one of the most difficult times in its history, and there is a pressing need for God’s people to be prepared and armed with the Truth.” What fundamentalists refer to as” Biblical truth” was what he was referring to.
According to a seminar promotion blurb,” some believers feel ill-informed and unprepared to do anything to reverse these trends as polls show that Christianity is rapidly declining in America and the culture is becoming more westernized and coarsened.” Scripture makes it abundantly clear that we have a duty to offer meaningful responses, but HOW?
” The Creator has been replaced by the government.” Government is evolving into God.
Kelly Johnson declared that” Biblical Christianity” is the only” valid worldview” at an” Answers for Our Times” seminar held in April 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Haughton, Louisiana. Nothing else” makes sense ,” she remarked. She argued that the” easy answers in the Bible” contain solutions to today’s problems. For” how things are supposed to operate ,” Mike Johnson referred to the Bible as the” owner’s manual” and demanded” biblically-sanctioned government.” Johnson bemoaned the current” full chaos on the street … God isn’t at the top again.” The issue, he continued, is that the majority of people want the government to take care of us right away and to give us everything. However, this will never work because it goes against the Creator’s created order. Government is evolving into God.
Mike Johnson gave a brief overview of US history, in which he insisted that” We started out as an American Holy nation.” He recalled that Christopher Columbus claimed to have traveled to the Americas” to bring the gospel to mysterious coastlands and people.” We would refer to him as an christian today, Johnson continued. When fired up, he made a long list of claims made by the country’s founders, elected officials, and Supreme Court justices that the United States needed either God or religion. Is this a country of Christians? He enquired. We do indeed live in a post-Christian society. I believe that is beyond question. You can’t actually claim with certainty that this country did not start out as a Holy one.

At this seminar, Mike Johnson expressed great cynicism toward his own politicians and lamented the fact that several of his political colleagues uphold or also acknowledge God’s principles— that is, his view of those principles:
Unbelievably many elected officials in this nation and state lack a well-developed political philosophy. They are unaware of what their worldview is. They are simply waiting for the loudest voice or the most influential lobbyist to instruct them in casting their ballots. God be with us. They poll it, which is why we’re in the situation we are in. No always what his constituents want, though. I make an effort to fulfill what my constituents want every day. However, there are times when what your constituents want goes against the principles God gave us for government. And you need to be able to say,” I know you feel that way, but this is what you’re missing ,” in front of your own people in a town hall. There are very few elected officials who are ready to do that, I’m telling you.
Mike Johnson considers himself to be a small group of upright officials who take on the challenging task of totally governing in accordance with the principles of Christian fundamentalism. Kelly and he are sincere believers. He has long been associated with Holy nationalism, crusaded against same-sex marriage and lesbian rights, denounced no-fault divorce, and advocated for a complete ban on abortion. Her Biblical counseling practice has made comparisons between incest and bestiality and homosexuality. They both have a pessimistic outlook on contemporary life. Johnson said,” We’re living in a completely immoral society ,” in the sermon he delivered in 2016. Additionally, he claimed that” sinister” elites were in charge of orchestrating climate change as a problem to achieve global” control” during an interview with Canadian conservative provocateur Jordan Peterson last year.
It’s obvious that Mike Johnson thinks he has the answer in a time of social upheaval, historical clashes, and war. It’s not governed by the people, but rather by his conservative worldview. Nothing more makes sense, as his wife and partner in preaching puts it. They know the truth, and then that he has moved up to the second-place spot in the political succession, they have the chance to combine power with this truth and advance the cause of converting America to Christianity.
