Ron DeSantis Paints Palestinians As ‘All Antisemitic’ In Rant Against Refugees

The GOP presidential candidate stated that the U.S. should not take in any Palestinians who fled Gaza because this would “increase antisemitism and anti-Americanism.”

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis dismissed global pleas for Israel to provide clear running water and utilities to the 2.3 million civilians living in the Gaza Strip and said that the United States should never accept any Palestinian refugees if they flee the area because they” are all racist.” DeSantis’ remarks were a startling departure from the open stance taken by U.S. officials, including some of his fellow Republicans, who distinguish between the goals of Hamas and the Arab people. Since 2007, the violent organization has controlled Gaza, and next weekend, it launched an attack on Israel. # 13 of the advertisement
DeSantis supports for strategies because he supported hard-line policies as a candidate for the White House. He claimed that by refusing to offer water or another services, Hamas would be persuaded to release the hostages it had captured during its invasion. ” You have Americans and Israelis held hostage, but I don’t believe they are required to provide water and these utilities while those hostages are being held.” The United Nations, aid organizations, and Jewish human rights organizations have pleaded with Israel to permit water and emergency fuel deliveries to flow into the Gaza Strip. DeSantis advised CBS ‘” Face The Nation” that Hamas should return those hostages before any discussions are had. As hospitals run out of fuel and other essential supplies and determined Palestinians are attempting to flee northern Gaza before a potential Jewish ground campaign, medical professionals in the area are warning that thousands could perish. The most recent Israel-Hamas conflict has now claimed more than 3,600 lives. DeSantis’ remarks highlighted the Florida governor’s use of hard-right rhetoric in an effort to overtake past president Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner for the 2024 presidential nomination. Former U. N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, a GOP candidate, said on CNN’s” State of the Union” that” there are so many of these people who want to be free from this terrorist rule ,” which is when DeSantis first suggested that the United States should not accept refugees from Gaza. They desire freedom from everything. Additionally, America has often supported the idea that terrorists and civilians can be distinguished from one another. And that is what we must do. Michael Herzog, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, even distinguished between Hamas and Palestinians. ” Hamas is our enemy. It’s hardly the Palestinians, though. He claimed on CNN,” It’s not the defenseless civilians.” During the TV interview, DeSantis defended his remarks by saying that none of the Palestinians who opposed Hamas’ rule of Gaza should be accepted as refugees into the United States. Let’s be obvious that they chose Hamas because of the culture, in my opinion. Not everyone is a member of the Hamas, and most likely no. However, they did elect Hamas ,” he said of Gazans. He referred to Gaza as having” a dangerous culture.” DeSantis remarked,” I believe that if we were to import huge numbers of those to the United States, it would increase antisemitism and anti-Americanism in this country.” DeSantis has been keen to demonstrate his attention to the conflict ever since the Israel-Hamas war began. He signed an executive order next week authorizing the Florida Division of Emergency Management to deliver supplies to Israel and charter flights for Florida residents stranded in Israel during the war.
