Greta Thunberg, Sunrise Movement and other groups have expressed their support for Palestine. However, the larger movement has not embraced their urgent call to stop the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel’s shelling of the Gaza Strip has led to the death of 11,000 Palestinian civilians, with 4,000 of them being children. Activists are strongly pushing for a stop to the fighting and a conclusion to the blockade of Gaza, however environmental justice supporters have yet to publicly show support for Palestine. As the climate emergency has become worse, protesters have been coming together in large numbers to encourage prompt action. The climate crisis is now viewed with an enhanced comprehension, with professionals characterizing it as a matter of social equity and distinguishing its beginnings in colonialism. Supporters of action to address climate injustices are advocating for those who suffer the most from the crisis. Many believe this effort is just as much about safeguarding people in future as it is about safeguarding animals. It is uplifting to observe staunch advocates, like Greta Thunberg and the Sunrise Movement, resolutely stand up against oppression; however, the broader movement has neglected to act on their adamant plea to bring about an instantaneous finish to the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. Climate justice is closely linked to the Palestinian freedom struggle.
