Larry Summers pulled into OpenAI drama as new board member

Larry Summers, former U.S. Treasury secretary and economist, will be on a new OpenAI board as part of a fallout following a turbulent week which saw OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman ousted and then reinstated. OpenAI announced on Wednesday morning that it had reached an agreement with Altman, who will return to the company in the role of CEO.

 Larry Summers, an economist and erstwhile U.S. Treasury Secretary, will join a new board of directors for OpenAI as part of the fallout from the turbulent week that resulted in the CEO Sam Altman’s termination and future reinstatement. First on Wednesday, OpenAI made the announcement that it had reached a deal with Altman to re-join as CEO. As a result of the turbulent week that saw OpenAI’s ouster and subsequent reinstatement of CEO Sam Altman, economist and erstwhile U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers will join the board of directors. Earlier on Wednesday, OpenAI made the announcement that it had reached a deal with Altman to re-join as CEO.
