Mississippin johtaja At a debate Wednesday evening, Tate Reeves, a Republican, encountered Democratic contender Brandon Presley. The vote will take place on Tuesday according to Rogelio V. Solis/Associated Press. Tate Reeves sought to portray himself as a strong manager of the state’s public health

Tate Reeves attempted to illustrate himself as a competent administrator of Mississippi’s health system, going up against his Democratic rival Brandon Presley in highly contested discourse. Gov. Tate Reeves (R) defended his policies, such as turning down federal funds designed to expand Medicaid, during the election campaign leading up to next Tuesday’s vote. Public Service Commissioner Shan Presley, Reeves’ opponent, has been arguing that Mississippi should have taken advantage of the Affordable Care Act’s federal support which has been accepted by 40 other states. The moderators of the debate at WAPT-TV in Jackson wanted to know where Lieutenant Governor Reeves stood on the Medicaid expansion for Mississippi. They gave him a chance to possibly alter his views, however his response was that after all considerations, it would not be profitable for the people of the state. It would not be a wise decision for residents of Mississippi to increase the number of people on Medicaid by 300,000, as this would merely amount to swapping out around one hundred thousand individuals who are currently covered by private insurance. Reeves proposed that some people who have their health insurance paid for by themselves would be obligated to switch to Medicaid.
