Tens of Thousands Marched in DC, Calling for a Ceasefire in Gaza

Tens of thousands marched on Saturday in Washington, D.C. in protest against the Israeli siege of Gaza and in support of Palestinians. The protestors, gathered at Freedom Plaza near White House, voiced their support for a truce, which has been avoided by most American politicians despite the increasing death toll in Gaza.

On Saturday, tens of thousands of protesters marched in Washington, D.C., to demonstrate in favor of Palestinians and against the Israeli occupation of Gaza. Yet though the number of Palestinians in Gaza exceeded 9, 000 on Thursday, the protesters, who gathered at Freedom Plaza close to the White House, expressed support for a ceasefire, which most American politicians have refrained from. In order to help Palestinians, President Biden called for a charitable pause on Wednesday. However, detractors claim that this is insufficient to significantly lessen the continued suffering in Gaza. RIGHT NOW: At a rally in Washington, DC, thousands of people demand that the ceasefire in Gaza be lifted.

@ BenjAlvarez1 photo The language that President Biden and his party understands is the language of votes in the 2023 elections, and our message is:” No cease fire, no votes ,” Nihad Awad, a Palestinian-American and national executive director at Council on American-Islamic Relations, said to the crowd at the protest on November 4 of that year, according to USA Today. The audience applauded in agreement. No votes in Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania, he continued, listing swing states that will be significant in the 2024 presidential election. The rhetoric was in line with a similar claim made by Rep. Rashida Tlaib( D-Mich. ) on Friday. The only Palestinian-American member of Congress, Tlaib, stated in the video that” Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Israeli people.” ” The people of America won’t forget.” Biden, please support a cease-fire right away. The crowd also cheered” Free Palestine” and” Ceasefire now ,” and many people wore keffiyehs, the checkered scarf that has come to represent Palestinian sovereignty, according to the Guardian.” Or don’t count on us in 2024.” Thousands more people attended the March on Washington as a big international crowd suddenly appeared.
