Third Round of Prisoner-Hostage Swap Includes 4-Year-Old American

The office of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday the release of thirteen Israeli citizens and four Thai nationals, the latest hostages to be released in the four-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Abigail Idan is a dual American-Israeli citizen who turned four.

The latest group of hostages to be released as part of the four-day truce between Israel and Hamas was the release of 13 Jewish citizens and four Thai citizens, according to an announcement made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday. Abigail Idan, a two American and Israeli citizen who turned four next week while in captivity, is one of the freed hostages.
After Hamas abducted about 240 people and killed more than 1,200 people in Israel on October 7, Abigail became the first American to be freed.
President Joe Biden stated in a speech soon after Sunday’s release that” Abigail is free, and Alice and I, along with so many Americans, are praying for the fact that she is going to be alright.” Biden continued, expressing his desire to see the cease-fire in fighting continue,” Crimically needed aid is going in and hostages are coming out.”
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated earlier in the day that the US had “reason to believe” that at least one American would be included on Sunday’s list in some appearances he made on the Sunday morning news circuit.
Sullivan told ABC’s Jon Karl on This Week that the second group of hostages, who were held for 50 days, were women and children. Three Americans fall into that category: two women and one child. One of those Americans will likely be released today, according to our reason. However, we cannot be absolutely certain that it will happen until we actually see her healthy and sound outside of Gaza.
When one of the Americans is properly up and eventually reunited with her family, we will finally rejoice.

A family member revealed that Abigail’s father was shot by a Hamas gunman in an NBC interview with Lester Holt that aired last week, adding that the child” crawled out from under his body …full of his blood.”
Families who have waited in agony amid tumultuous negotiations carried out by American, Qatari, and Iranian officials to exchange hostages for Israeli prisoners have experienced unusual scenes of relief as a result of the momentary cease-fire, which is scheduled to end on Monday. The short pause has also made it possible for Gazans who have endured constant Israeli government bombing to receive urgently needed aid, food, and medicine.
