UN Security Council passes resolution calling for humanitarian pauses, release of hostages in Gaza

The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution on Wednesday calling for the release and opening of humanitarian corridors in Gaza, which is under siege. Malta brought the resolution to the UN Security Council after several failed votes on a previous resolution regarding Israel-Hamas’ war last year.

 On Wednesday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for the release of hostages held by the radical group Hamas in Palestine as well as the opening of immediate humanitarian pauses and passageways in besieged Gaza. After various unsuccessful votes on a resolution regarding the Israel-Hamas war next, the resolution, which was introduced by Malta, was approved. On Wednesday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for the release of hostages held by the violent group Hamas in Palestine as well as the opening of immediate humanitarian pauses and passageways in besieged Gaza. After various unsuccessful votes on a resolution regarding the Israel-Hamas war next, the resolution, which was brought by Malta, passed.
