As competing groups consolidate power, bitterly contested conflicts will rage across the U.S. continent.

 Conflicts that were fiercely contested would rage throughout much of the continental United States as rival groups merged power. As rival groups merged power, severely contested conflicts would rage throughout much of the continental United States.
