National Park Service Teaming Up With Tribes To Tell ‘More Complete Story’ Of U.S. History

At the White House Tribal Nations Summit, Haaland commented, “I’d like to discuss how we can communicate our stories.” She declared that although there are aspects of our past that bring sorrow, they are not what shape us. The world we create is reflective of who we are as a collective whole.”

We identify ourselves by the shared environment we construct for present and future generations. The world we come together to form shows us what we are like as a group. Everyone needs to share their experiences. In addition to the tales of difficult times, we also commemorate the joyful moments. Those that show our determination, our power, and our accomplishments. Haaland declared that the National Park Service is collaborating with Native American tribes and experts on a project that surveys the Indian Reorganization Period, which she considers to be one of the most significant periods in history.
